Yeah, this is going to be one of those boring posts. You can tell because it’s in the site news category. Yawn. But there’s been a lull in posts. AGAIN! I am so shite at updating sometimes. However I did upgrade to wordpress 2.5 something or other and I’m not sure the admin backend was such a good upgrade. It’s a bit sucky and web2.0 if you know what I mean. Plus I am currently sans internet at home and thus updates are few and far between. I promise that normal service will resume soon!
Cheers for reading, stop by again soon

I’m in the process of giving Uttershite a face-lift of sorts as you can tell. I’m still checking out different themes and perhaps planning some other changes to the site. But I’ll still be collecting crap from around the internet and posting it here amongst other things :P
You’ll see what’s what once I get everything together. So if anything goes weird, that’s why.
Thanks for visiting :)

What goes here again? Man, it’s been ages really. I’ve been busying myself with other stuff so that I managed to almost forget uttershite. tsk tsk. Mostly I’ve been doing stuff to Daily Demotivation which is going better than I thought… for now… must get a domain for it at some point too :) Not had much time for Lego either, so no news on that front… it’s been pretty uneventful other than the gearing up for christmas. So merry christmas everyone :)

Situation: Articles on this site get pushed down the list as new ones are added. Each article has a page URL. For example this one will be <baseurl>/come-on-google. You can use that URL as a trackback URL as it’s called. This allows you to send the link around (if that ever happens) or to link from it else where (again, if that ever happens). The URL for each article can be obtained by clicking on the title of each post.
Problem: Google indexes content of sites but in this case it will link to the content of the front page, which contains the article. When the article slides off of the front page Google’s result points to the wrong place. This happens on other sites too I imagine. So you’ll follow your search term and end up on a page that contains nothing of the sort [anymore].
Solution: Google should link to the article URL, not the main site URL. Eventually Google does link to the article URL rather than the main page, but not soon enough.
Problem 2: How the hell do you get Google to do that? I am using sitemaps which should apparently help but I’ve not noticed anything different as such. Older articles are linked correctly, but I still get hits from searches that take you to the front page where the article no longer exists.
Plea: Anyone out there who knows how to fix or improve this?
Ending statement: Thank you

I am as pleased as basket cat. Why? Because I am now off to the airport to catch my flight. Let the holidays commence my friends. Let it commence.
I’ll be back soon - then the updating will continue ;)

Uttershite has just been migrated from Nucleus to Wordpress. This has affected the images and various layout bits and some features from the old site. I’ve managed to trannsfer all the posts but the image URLs kinda got screwed. So please bear with me while I fix all the stuff that broke :P
We hope to resume normal service soon.

Truly another piece of english genius. Not only is Marks&Spencer telling you to not smoke in that place. They want everyone to just not smoke!
I applaud M&S for their daring campaign against the smokers of the world. If only the NHS had thought of such guerilla marketing schemes.

Yes, my gut feels like that today :P not good. I’m not sure what to put it down to either: something I ate last night, or something I had this morning.
I do hope it will pass soon though… it’s most uncomfortable. :P
Elsewhere though, more Peanut Poeple are on their way, but I need to find some time to paint them. I’ve got some other stuff to take care of, but once that’s done I’ll get some time to paint away… also need to create some scenery for some other peanut people and snap some piccies. Ooh, I bet that’s got you all excited and stuff hasn’t it?

So I just got back from my ice dive trip to Austria. Amazing I must say. This is us getting our kit ready before the dive.
More pictures to come soon, but in the mean time this is it.
The holiday consisted of two altitude dives on Friday (500m without ice) and then 4 ice dives on Saturday and Sunday.
Quite an experience diving under the ice. Like nothing you could ever imagine. The initial hurdle comes when you’re standing next to the hole in the ice waiting to in. It’s hard to believe that it’s not going to be superbly cold. Once in the water though it’s a rather enjoyable experience, even if the viz is 1.5m :P
Standing upside down on the underside of the ice is a peculiar experience, especially when you and your buddy manage to do it at the same time. Of course this isn’t quite as easy as it sounds, which became apparent when I watched my buddy kneeling on all fours on the underside of the ice.
Anyhows, I am still tired from the late arrival this morning and am going to sign off, as I my brain capacity for writing is very limited. Grammar and spelling may have suffered….
